My Golf Journey Across America

My name is Matthew Rice and I am a golf fanatic!  I am 32 years old and have been playing this game since I was 10 years old.  I actually remember how it all started.  My Dad moved to a house that bordered a golf course when I was in the 5th grade.  One day I decided to take one of his clubs and play the hole that bordered our house.  I must have played that hole hundreds of times within the next 2 years.  I have been hooked on the sport ever since.  I got pretty good in high school and got my handicap down to a 1.3, but the joy of the sport seemed to disappear.  I decided that I didn’t have the talent to play the game professionally, and didn’t touch a club for two years.  One day a college buddy of mine convinced me to play with a couple of friends of ours.  I don’t think I broke 90 that day, but it was one of the best times I’ve ever had on a golf course.  Right then I decided that I was going to play this game for fun, and for fun only.  I do like to play competitively, but only on a friendly level.  Over the years I have found the most joy in playing a variety of courses, and meeting new people from all over the world.  That is what has inspired My Golf Journey across America.
